triptych, part 1 10208

April 13, 2009

One o’clock silence
while other children slept
wandering on gravel-laden tiptoes
to enjoy swing-sets alone
To make haste under the whooshing
quiet of white-hot solar systems
Enjoying bad afternoon television
while air-conditioners roared.

(for Read.Write.Poem.

  1. Siesta time is escape time for a few!

    I can relate!

    road trip

  2. Oh, I remember those days! You captured it so well!

  3. nice read..i like it…keep writing

  4. “wandering on gravel-laden tiptoes” is a fantastic line. It rolls around in the mouth like pebbles.

  5. This reminds me of the children who are allelic to the sun. They wait for the cover to darkness to play outside.

    GREAT poem!
