Page 123 Meme

February 14, 2008

I’m stealing this from Schmutzie. The rules are as follows:

1. Grab the nearest book of at least 123 pages.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Something about tagging more people.

So here it is, from The Journal of Medieval and Early Modern Studies and the article entitled: “From Prostitutes to Brides of Christ,” by Joelle Rollo-Koster (yes, that’s really the author), here is the meme:

On the return of her husband, (who did manage to locate her [at the convent]), the Repenties’ prioress retrieved from him the price of Etiennette’s pension. In a similar case, Jean Maupin, barber, dissipated his wife Catherine’s fortune and abandoned her. Catherine led a dissolute life for a while and then decided to enter the convent.

Okay, people. Your turn.
